Strum is a fantastic shop with ethical owners who treat their patrons well! Even if you are just there to grab a brew or listen to music, you are greeted warmly and treated well. Great set ups and service as well!

My wife found this place one day after eating lunch nearby. After conversing with the staff, I have since bought two guitars from them and had my other two set up by them. They did a fantastic job with the setups, especially on my old acoustic. The action was way off and they dialed it in so that it plays well above its price bracket. If you're looking for a cool place to check out some awesome guitars, I can't recommend these guys enough. Oh, and you can grab a beer while you're there.

I first encountered Strum as a performance space. 2 guitarists that I had previously seen separately elsewhere were playing together at Strum on a Sunday afternoon. Everything about this space was terrific for an audience member - acoustics, sight lines, easy access to drinks and refills, and the visual aspect of having guitars everywhere made for a wonderful listening experience.
Since I was primarily there to listen, I didn't get a chance to look carefully at the guitars for sale, but from what I was able to observe, I'm very much looking forward to returning as a musical instrument customer.
This was the first guitar shop I've ever been to that had a bar for beverages. I didn't look carefully enough to have memorized the drink options, but during my visit I had 2 different excellent stouts on draught, which was a particularly nice find in a town that has become overrun with IPAs.

I love strum pdx! I’ve visited several times before and since I moved to Oregon. I’ve told all my musician friends it’s a must stop when in the Portland area. Staff has always been amazing! And they have an awesome selection of guitars, amps and effects. It’s great to be able to have a drink and play really cool gear!

For just a smidge of background, I’ve visited Portland more times than I can count between 2017 and present day, including a year and a half sojourn living there from the start of 2019 until mid-2020. Strum PDX’s family element is undeniable, the staff has always been friendly, willing to talk shop, and even deeper than that, the owner Michael and his wife (sorry I don’t remember your wife’s name) had even on a couple occasions just simply asked how I was doing and feeling overall, being a young early-20s year old freshly moved out of the parents place 1000 miles away… didn’t have to do that, they’re just genuine people that care about others. As for the store as whole, the equipment selection is almost always great, as long as you’re not molesting the instruments (metaphorically speaking) you can play them to your heart’s content, prices were often in-line with average market price (gotta make a profit somehow), and the atmosphere was always welcoming whether you were just strolling in on a day off, or there for a show. Many fond memories formed drinking a cream soda (not really a drinker) and talking shop. Great place, a must stop for me, and always recommended when I hear any musician friends are going to visit Portland.

My favorite guitar shop in the PDX metro. Great selection of instruments, amps and pedals that is regularly updated if you’re always on the hunt for that next piece of gear like I am. Super friendly staff as well as a killer roster of shows (get to see one of my childhood heroes next month there) Support local and give these folks your business, you won’t regret it.

The staff is great, the beer is great, the guitars are great, the space is great, the owners…you guessed it…are great. I love spending time at Strum, and I’ve bought a few things there. It’s one of my favorite store to visit, and I always leave there feeling better than I did when I walked in. The whole package is a positive for the music industry and community. Also, there’s a great sammich shop across the street just as a bonus! Ten out of ten, would do it all over again!

My 3rd trip to Strum, and they continue to impress. Free shows of local acoustic bands seems to be the theme. Fun for all ages, with a nice selection of ciders and hops. A fab selection of guitars and amps on display round out the experience. Photos are from the prohibition era jazz band “Smut City Jelly Roll Society” 11/16/19.
