Our 6 year old daughter had never picked up a guitar until she started Mark’s lessons. He is patient and explains everything in an age appropriate manner, offering praise and encouragement throughout each session. His approach is extremely professional and our daughter really looks forward to attending each week. We would highly recommend Mark as a local guitar tutor.

I went to Mark to get help with my song writing - I felt my lack of musical theory/ability was holding me back. Under Marks guidance I think my writing has come on leaps and bounds - he is always prepared (unlike some other guitar teachers I’ve used in the past!) and very encouraging - always suggesting different artists and groups to listen to in order to improve my writing. We have now decided to move on to actual guitar technique - in order to embellish the songs - It goes without saying I highly recommend Mark - his relaxed teaching technique and willingness to listen to your individual needs means the lessons are really enjoyable and the time flies by.

I have been trying to play the guitar for over a decade. I recently started lessons with Mark, he evaluated my guitar playing, listened to what my musical interests are and came up with a pathway for improvement. Mark has without any shadow of doubt guided me to progress and improve. No amount of YouTube tutorials can come anywhere close to good one to one instruction and Mark is highly recommended in this regard.

Mark has made the start of my guitar journey seem perfectly achievable. In a relatively short space of time he's taught me a combination of basic guitar skills (things to keep me interested and fun to do) along with the more structured classic guitar instruction. He's listened to what I would like to achieve, and importantly how I want to learn. This approach has kept me engaged and I've learned more in the last few weeks with him than trying to faff around with books and online content for years. If you want to learn in a particular way, Mark will happily structure your lessons to accommodate you. I really enjoy our lessons and look forward to them each week.

My 9 year old daughter has started guitar lessons with Mark. She is a complete beginner and Mark makes learning easy and fun. She really looks forward to her lessons and I am amazed how much she has learnt in just a few weeks. A great teacher and a superb guy! Highly recommended!

At the age of 55 and having "played" the guitar for 30 years, I realised that I acutally couldn't play that well at all. I had lost my interest and my guitars were gathering dust. I decided that I needed a new interest, and decided to revisit the old one! I found Mark online and living a 5 minute drive away I thought I'd jump in. I'm so glad I did. Mark is a great guy, and his teaching is both relaxed and fun, but also thorough. I think I've learned more in the last few months than I have in years and my interest in guitars has returned. Long may that contunue!

As someone who last picked up a guitar to learn 40 years ago, I knew I needed a patient teacher. My goals of being able to read music as well as play a handful of songs around the campfire are not massively ambitious but I was coming from a low base. Having Mark as a teacher has been exactly what I needed - when I didn’t really know what I needed! He is calm, thoughtful, patient (!) and clearly very knowledgeable. He is able to adapt his lessons to match how I am doing and what I want out of the lessons. I have no hesitation in recommending him to any adult or child no matter where they are on their guitar journey- from picking one up for the first time to one seeking a high grade music qualification.
